ABOUT US

Canavan Enterprises was established in 1997 by Noel Canavan; Noel is a qualified chef who served his apprenticeship in restaurant Mirabeau, The Old Russell hotel on Steven's Green and other top restaurants around Ireland. Noel was also Pastry Chef in Ashford Castle at the time they won their first Michelin Star before moving to France to the Michelin Star Restaurant 'Au Berge de la Cornieche'. Upon his return to Ireland he went into executive catering, his regular clientele consisted of the Fianna Fail cabinet of the time, headed by Jack Lynch and the Irish Flour Association.

After a lifetime of catering, Noel saw a niche in the market for pre-packed gourmet sandwiches. Bringing gourmet food to a convenient status has been very exciting. This has to date been a very successful venture.

In 2001 he constructed a purpose built manufacturing unit in Curragha, Ashbourne with a retail unit at the front. This let to him successfully tendering for other retail outlets (for example, The Institute of Technology Blanchardstown), this tender has been successfully held for 10 years.

Through his children and other experiences with companies supplying school lunches; he began to look into schools foods and realised to amount of processed food used was and thought to himself, why not give children good quality fresh food. This led to the creation of 'Canavan's Food 4 Thought' which supplies schools with good quality fresh food for both the staff and students. This service in its infancy has been very successful and we are looking forward to rolling this service out to the wider school population in 2013/2014.

Overall we have a great team of employees who enjoy pleasing customers and working as part of our family business. Each member of our team is treated as one of the family and in return works to the best of their ability to grow the business to its full potential.
